Utilizing the optional Burst Bottle feature, the FMS will detect bottles that burst or break during the filling and capping process. The FMS can be programmed to remove as many bottles as desired from the valve station where the burst occurred. Bottles that precede and follow this station may also be removed. These bottles are tracked and rejected at the downstream reject station.
When a burst or broken bottle is detected, the system will automatically turn on water-wash stations, located around the filler, to purge any glass fragments from the area where the burst occurred. If a bottle is damaged in the capper, the system can be programmed to remove the desired number of bottles from the capper station where the damage occurred, in addition to bottles ahead of and behind the damaged bottle. This procedure maximizes the probability that any bottles that may contain glass fragments will be removed from the production line and will not reach the consumer.
