Missing labels have traditionally
been detected using an array of photoeyes mounted between the Filtec
inspection head and the rejector. Current systems work well for
detecting most labels that are brightly colored and that wrap at least
90 degrees around the bottle. However, for many of today’s label
applications such as dark, metallic, or labels that wrap less than 90
degrees, current systems are not adequate.
The In-Labeler Missing Label Detection System utilizes
label detectors mounted in the Labeler where the labels are precisely
located for accurate inspection. If a label is missing, this information
is relayed downstream to the Filtec Rejection System where the faulty
bottle is removed from the production line.
To address these tough applications, the new In-Labeler
Missing Label Detection option is available for any new or existing
Filtec Fill Level Inspection System.

 |
Quick disconnect
mounting brackets and cables for easy and repeatable installation/
removal for cleaning and quick change-overs.
|
 |
Automatic
"Learn Mode" to teach the system all the timing and
tracking parameters needed to reliably track bottles from inside the
Labeler to the Filtec Rejection System mounted downstream.
|
 |
Automatic
"Self Diagnostics" to alert the operator when any system
component fails. Detailed instructions step the operator through the
diagnostic process to quickly identify and correct problems for
maximum performance and minimum downtime.
|
 |
Multi-bottle memory
allows the user to change-over for different bottle and label
combinations with a few key strokes. Bottle types can be programmed
into the system for added user friendliness.
|
 |
Separate reject
counters for each label to help identify Labeler problems.
|
 |
Consecutive reject
alarms provide immediate shutdown capability when too many rejects
are detected. Separate alarm limits are provided for each label type
being inspected. A "remote clear input" allows the alarm
to be cleared remotely, eliminating the need for the operator to
clear the alarm at the Filtec touch pad.

Data interface
capability for providing throughput and reject counts to any PLC or
PC based data acquisition system. Interface also allows for
automatic change-over, clearing alarms, and transmitting diagnostic
and line speed information.
|
 |
Reject sorting
assists the operator in reworking or discarding rejected bottles.
When installed with multiple rejectors or with the new Servotec
Rejection System, the system can sort the bottles with missing
labels from the underfills, duds, etc.

Integration of other
inspection systems to maximize the number of inspection functions
that can be performed at the Labeler discharge. With the recent
introduction of Dud (low pressure) Detectors on bottle lines, single
file conveyor space for inspection and rejection at the Labeler
discharge is often limited. The reject signal can easily be accepted
from almost any external inspection device. The FT-50 allows the
name of the device to be programmed on the display. A separate
counter and alarm limit is also provided.
