Examples of Defects Detected

The Omnivision New Glass Inspector performs a full 360 degree inspection to identify most common defects in the finish, sidewall and base of new glass containers including the following:

Finish. Problems with the finish can affect the ability of the customer to properly seal the container in the case of a saddle, split or overpress finish. They can also affect consumer safety in the case of a broken finish or one with sharp stones.

Sidewall.  Problems with the sidewall of a container can affect the structural integrity of the container in the case of body checks, hot or panel checks, pressure checks or tears. They can also affect consumer safety in the case of spikes or bird cage swings which could break off and be ingested by the customer.

Base.  Problems with the base of a container can similarly affect the structural integrity of the container as in the case of a swung baffle or blisters.  They can also affect consumer safety in the case of stuck glass particles or base spikes which could break off and be ingested by the customer.
