Filtec’s Servotec Rejection System offers rejection of touching containers and multiple lane sorting capabilities.

Servotec Pneumatic Servo Rejection

Servotec Rejection System

The Servotec is a revolutionary rejection system that uses a digital servo controlled pneumatic actuator to remove containers from production lines. Rejection is consistent, smooth and gentle. Containers that are touching (with no back pressure or staggering) may be rejected on a continuous basis without jamming.

Features

bulletIncreased Reliability
Our rejection system uses a single reject actuator (only one moving part) thus reducing wear, maintenance, and downtime. Long-life components increase the overall reliability of the total inspection/ rejection system.
bulletSpeed Range
It operates from a full stop to a top speed of 1200 containers per minute, with no degradation in reject capability.
bulletAccurate
Our digital servo system gives precise control of actuator at all times during the reject cycle.
bulletStability
The actuator makes full body contact with container being rejected thus eliminating vertical adjustment for different height containers and gives more stable rejection of plastic bottles or bottles with various fill levels. Rejects full or empty containers without tippage or spillage.
bulletSet up
It automatically adjusts for various container diameters thus eliminating operator set up error. Handles all containers types and sizes without adjustment or change parts.
bulletVersatile
Servotec is compatible with all of Industrial Dynamics' inspection systems.
bulletEasy Installation
The Servotec can be installed in several hours in most plants. An air supply of 60 psi minimum with a capacity of is required. The electrical drive signal is supplied by the Filtec Inspection system. The unit is small, measuring only 6 inches in width and 9 inches in depth. It bolts directly to the floor and conveyor for rigidity.

Figure 1 shows a typical multi-lane rejection system used with a Filtec FT-50 Fill Level device installed after the labeler. The faulty bottles are rejected into two lanes. Each lane is made up of two 3.25" conveyor chains which is required for proper handling. Number 1 lane is used for Underfilled and Missing Cap bottles. Number 2 lane is used for Unlabeled bottles. In many cases, the bottles from Number 2 lane are routed back to the infeed of the labeler where they can be reinserted into the production line.

Figure 2 shows how a Servotec may be used to sort the various bottle types rejected from an Omnivision 1200 All Surface Empty Bottle Inspector (ASEBI). All rejected bottles are released from the Omnivision vacuum starwheel onto the Take-away conveyor. The Take-away conveyor uses a flexible tabletop chain to route the rejected bottles away from the Production conveyor to give sufficient space to mount the Servotec between them. In this application, there are four classes of rejects; Regular Rejects, Test Bottles, Foreign Bottles and Chipped Finish/Scuffed Bottles.

Note that there are four 3.25" chains in the reject accumulation section since two 3.25" chains are required for each reject lane. The Regular Rejects continue along the Take-away conveyor chain. The Chipped Finish/Scuffed Bottles cannot be reused so they are rejected into the Collection Bin which usually goes to a glass crusher. The first sort lane is used for the Foreign Bottles and the second sort lane for the Test Bottles. The Servotec has the ability to precisely reject each bottle type into the proper lane as identified by the Omnivision.
